THE ALASKAN ADVENTURE
“I had a group from a big city, and we didn’t see anything for three hours. Then, we spotted a bear going in the bushes. It reemerged, looked right at us. One of the women was crying out of joy, and that made me tear up. That was magical giving her such an experience.” – Stephanie Trotter, TOWN Charlotte

LUKE MEYERS – YOUR LOCAL GUIDE
HELLO NEW FRIENDS!
My name is Luke Meyers and I will be your friendly, funny and fearless guide on your Wild Bear Safari. I came to Alaska 10 years ago for a 14 day vacation and guess what, I never left! I have been blessed with the opportunity to guide locally owned bear tours for the last 7 years and I love it. Come enjoy the majestic beauty and exciting wildlife with me. Who knows, you might never want to leave! I make friends on every tour and recently even had a reporter contacting me after her tour to write a piece about me (link to article). Enjoy the read!
WHAT TO EXPECT
A ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE
Tour Infos
Wild Bear Safari is a locally owned and operated tour company in Hoonah Alaska (Icy Strait Point). We offer very personal land based wildlife and bear viewing tours on the majestic Chichagof island.
We typically view our bears at a safe distance feeding on salmon, local berries or just lumbering through the forest!
The tour is 3.5 hours long. Minimal walking is to be expected, unless the group is game for a short hike on an established trail. While we look for bears, I will gladly inform our small group about the history of the local population, many fun facts about the wildlife and some fascinating stories that will keep you on the edge of your seat!
In addition to the likely sighting of Brown bears we will also encounter other wildlife, such as: Sitka Black Tailed Deer, Bald Eagles, Waterfowl, Beavers, Minx, Martens, Ravens and often we see Humpback Whales from the city dock.
After our exciting time together, we can share a meal at one of the local eateries, visit the craft brewery or if you want, I can just take you back to your ship without delay,
One last thing my new Friend; We have never been late for the all-aboard. In fact, we guarantee you will be safe and on board long before your departure.
What a day!
Meeting Up
Wild Bear Safari works with Hoonah Travel Adventures to transport you and your loved ones in comfort to our point of contact just minuets away from the dock.
A detailed message on how to connect with us after you arrive will be sent in your confirmation email and again in your reminder email.
We make it easy so you can enjoy your time with us!
Tongass
Known by the U.S. Forest Service as the “crown jewel”, the Tongass stretches across 17 million acres of land and is Alaska’s largest National Forest. Alaska Wilderness League describes the Tongass as “one of the last remaining intact temperate rainforests in the world”.
Your personalized tour will start at Icy Strait Point on the beautiful Chichagof Island which has the highest Brown Bear Population in the world!
